Fascial Manipulation

What is Stecco Fascial Manipulation?

Stecco fascial manipulation is an innovative form of therapy that focuses on treating the fascia system - a dense network of connective tissue that surrounds and connects muscles, nerves and organs. Developed by Luigi Stecco and continued by Carla and Antonio Stecco, this method is based on the latest scientific findings on the function and importance of fascia for movement, posture and pain perception.

How does Stecco fascia manipulation work?

The method aims to resolve adhesions, compaction and dysfunctions in the fascia system. The focus is on so-called coordination centers (CCs) - specific points in the fascia network that control movement sequences.

Using precise manual techniques, these points are treated to:

  • reduce pain,

  • improve mobility

  • to restore muscular balance.

  • Improve internal dysfunctions

This technique takes the entire musculoskeletal system into account, as dysfunctions in one area can often cause discomfort in other regions.

Benefits of Fascia Manipulation

  • Pain relief: Ideal for back, neck or joint pain as well as myofascial pain syndromes.

  • Posture and movement optimization: Effective for posture disorders or movement restrictions.

  • Rehabilitation support: Promotes recovery after injury or surgery.

  • Internal dysfunctions can be improved. This can involve intolerances or irritated organs such as the intestines.

  • Holistic approach: Treatment targets the cause of the problem and not just the symptoms.

Who is this method suitable for?

Stecco fascia manipulation is ideal for people with:

  • Chronic or acute pain,

  • limitations in mobility,

  • Postural imbalances,

  • Sports injuries or overuse injuries.

Manual Therapy

What is manual therapy?

Manual therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system. Through targeted techniques such as mobilization and manipulation, joints, muscles and nerve structures are treated to relieve pain, improve mobility and optimize function.

Different Approaches to Manual Therapy

1. Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a manual therapy approach that specializes in the treatment of spinal and joint dysfunctions. Through targeted manipulation, known as adjustments, joint mobility is restored, nerve function is improved, and pain is reduced.

  • Focus: back pain, neck pain, headaches, and posture correction.

  • Objectives: Restoring natural movement patterns and relieving strain on the nervous system.

2. Mulligan techniques

Mulligan techniques were developed by Brian Mulligan, a New Zealand physiotherapist. They combine active movements by the patient with passive mobilisation techniques by the therapist to reduce pain and improve function.

  • Typical applications:

    • joint pain or stiffness.

    • limitations in mobility.

    • Recurring injuries or overuse damage.

  • Special feature: The techniques are painless and are based on the principle of restoring normal joint mechanics.

Benefits of Manual Therapy

  1. Pain relief: Treats the underlying causes of pain, not just the symptoms.

  2. Improved mobility: Supports the restoration of mobility and function.

  3. Holistic approach: Combines biomechanical, neurological and muscular aspects.

  4. Individual adaptation: Each treatment is tailored specifically to the patient.

Who is manual therapy suitable for?

Manual therapy is ideal for people with:

  • back pain or neck tension.

  • Joint stiffness or limited mobility.

  • Sports injuries or recurring stress problems.

  • postsurgery rehabilitation needs.
